Philosophy

Reedy and Sykes Architecture and Design believes every building it designs should exhibit exceptional performance, durability, beauty, and sustainability in design and construction.  Although the program dictates the extent to which this ideal is practicable, this is the high standard set for every project.  The architects at Reedy and Sykes assume that the customer desires these same qualities in their finished product as well as a good return on investment; and value added for design and support services throughout all phases of construction.  The client/designer relationship hinges on effective communication, and Reedy and Sykes architects begin each project listening carefully to what you say you want your building to be and do.

Team

Robert Reedy and Steven Sykes form the Reedy and Sykes partnership which also employs two intern architects and a technical assistant.  The firm retains electrical, mechanical and structural engineers who are involved in most full-scale projects.  The principals are both fully registered architects with AIA standing (one past President of the local chapter and one currently serving in that role) and legally licensed for business in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina, West Virginia, Florida, and Colorado.  Mr. Reedy is also a LEED Accredited Professional.  Professional associations include memberships in the National Trust of Historic Preservation, the Timber Framers Guild, the Archaeological Institute of America, and the U.S. Green Building Council.

Joey White is a naturally gifted designer who graduated University of Tennessee School of Architecture in 1985 and immediately began practicing architecture with Reedy and Sykes Architecture and Design. A great respecter of form and order, he excels in the design of churches, war memorials and truly inspired technical details affiliated with those and other such structures.

Kimberly Ornduff graduated the University of Tennessee School of Architecture in 1994 and made a fine addition to the Reedy and Sykes team when she joined the firm that same year.  Also an excellent designer, Kim’s sense of color composition and sense for blending materials and textures give her particular skills for creating intimate relationships within the building.

Joy Crass graduated East Tennessee State University in 1973, and had other careers before deciding to apply a medley of skills at Reedy and Sykes beginning in 2004.  Assisting in a variety of technical assignments she spends a large part of her time doing computer aided drafting in support of the architects.
